"Farthest from Railways" a collection of three prints in the style of 1930's Railways Posters.
Originally issued by Clive in 2014 they are now reissued in 2024 as a limited edition of 25 signed and numbered framed prints
Evoking the spirit of the golden age of Train Travel, inspired by a book from the early part of the 20th century; R Pearse Chope's "Farthest from the Railways: an Unknown Corner of Devon.
Chope's booklet describes Hartland in the late 19th and early 20th century. Hartland never had a rail connection and was technically the furthest you could be from a railway station in all of England. It seemed amusing to me to pay homage to my wonderful home in a style used to promote a mode of transport by which it coudn't be reached. Colourful and stylish I hope they reflect in a nostalgic way the feeling and charm of this still very special place.
The quotes on the poster prints are from Chope's writings. A full explanation of the locations and quotes come with each print.
The prints are available mounted and framed to a size of approx 50x40cm in white wood box frame. The prints are £52.00 each or £148.00 for the three. To purchase please email studio@whitehare.co.uk.
